BÀ JEAN ALLAN SLOAN

              JEAN ALLAN SLOAN
Our mother married at 17. Three years earlier while at a Glencoe
dance she informed her best friend.Myrtle.that she was going to marry the young man on the other side of the hall,a person to whom she had not yet spoken.
Six children and several moves later the couple settled a mile ouside of BOTHWELL.
Whenever the artist inside our mother tried to get out our father was puzzled. How could art possibly contribute to the family income?
But Mom's couldn't be quashed. Between plucking chickens and
making casseoles out of leftovers the paintings flew off of her easel. Their sale helped household renovations to become reality.
Mom and Dad travelled to Florida in a truck camper to celebrate their 25th anniversary and every winter after. They looked forward to to this time together_away from everything else.
The spark at that Glencoe dance kept glowing through 68years of
marriage. Dad died two and a half years ago. Sunday they were
together again.
Each December Dad filled our front yard with Christmas trees. It
was Mom's job to sell them. The shed across the lane became "The
Craft Shop" a place where Mom sold her paintings and the dream of the crafters .
Business was in her veins as much as Dad's.
Each night before going to bed Mom spend time on her knees talking to GOD and she encouraged us to do the same.
Jean Allan Sloan was the best mother and wife she could be.
Most of all she showed us how to make our dreams com true.
